The main function of the UBCF (Universal Brake Cooling Fan) is to reduce brake cooling time by extraction of the hot air on the brake disks. It is mounted on the landing gear, at wheels axle, and activated by the pilot after landing.

Its main advantages are as follows :
- Equipment that can be fitted on all Airbus programs (A310, A300-600, A319, A320, A321)
- On the A330/340, only the electrical connector requires modification.
- Equipment fully interchangeable with the current BCF.
- Cost reduction thanks to increased reliability, reduced cost of spares, savings in terms of inventory and maintenance.
